Our Family Home Evening this week had two purposes. The first was to get supplies for our family first aid kit and secondly our short lesson. I’d like to talk about the lesson. At home we have the Family Home Evening resource manual which has helped us to understand principles to build a strong family. The lesson this time was about reasoning with children, something that generally sounds ridiculous but it is the right way to teach children to obey and judge correctly.
The lesson compares the models of reasoning, and command and demand.Max said something very true at end of the lesson “by doing it this way one is teaching and respecting children’s agency; in the church we are taught to study the scripture, live the counsel of the prophets and to pray for revelation and understanding; not just to obey blindly.”
