Terminando el 2012./ 2012 coming to an end.
Today Max went again to New York to help those affected by hurricane Sandy. He really enjoys helping others and do part of what he is to do as a Priesthood holder.
Meanwhile, Nathan and I are staying home catching up with some laundry (the never ending story), canning and play, Nathan loves this last one. Have I said he is already walking? well, he is!, although he still losses his balance every now and then. I feel so excited when he comes to see me from the far end of the living-room to the kitchen, usually he wants be picked up and carried around, silly!
I think this December I want to do/emphasize) something each day that will remind me (more) of Jesus and his gospel. Today I started with home-preparedness by canning some tomatillos I bough (99 cents/lb). Tomorrow is fast-and-testimony service at Church and I've already known what I'll fast for. :)
Next some pictures from today.

La semana pasada!/Last week!

After our visit we drove by the city, kind of; we saw the white house, the capitol and other buildings in downtown. The city looked so pretty to me, like in the movies.

Un mes nuevo!/A new month!
There is nothing better than a new beginning new budget, new coupons, new calaveras (calaveras are rhymes about people sorting death jokily)y many thinks to be grateful about!
My Dad has the family tradition of composing calaveras for every member in his family, this year Nathan might get on!This is the calavera that my dad wrote for us on 2010, last year it was a family calavera so I won't post it this time.

September was very eventful. We were invited to dinner two times and in both ocassions food and company were excellent!
The missionaries eat with us once!
We cooked a meal for the Hoffman family who are expecting their 9th and 10th children (they are twin sisters, that is why sister Hoffman had to be in bed rest.)
My calling, I love my calling and the things I'm learning (like humility) by serving next to Brother Haggerty, who is blind and plays the organ for us.
Nathan is the joy of my days, seeing him discover the world fills my heart with hope for a better world and to do my best.
Max is working and in the search for new adventures. As the head of our home he wants the best for all of us, so he's been looking for new possible path in his work and career in the future.

Mi hermoso Agosto! / My beautiful August!
Summer is almost over. Max started school this week, Nathan's got two teeth and stands against the wall, I guess he'll be giving his first steps soon. This monthh has been great; we celebrate my birthday and wedding anniversary, we watched the Olympics' aperture ceremony, I was called to lead the music in sacrament meeting, we had dinner at the Haggerty's, we went to our ward picnic, we were at three "Little league" games at South Williamsport, (and two friends from Max's work came along once), we hiked to Jacoby Falls, I canned salsa and raspberry-peach marmalade, I visited teach my sisters and I was visited by my visiting teachers.
Nathan has two teeth now and loves to play with his dad. Today they were spinning some discs, it caught my attention how focused and patient Nathan is to take turns to play.
Max has been drafting a stroller and learning a new modeling software.
And the breaking news: Andrew and Ramona are having a baby on May 2013, Congrats!

Poema.
Nathan, un nino de ojos grandes
juega y explora todos los dias
aunque no parecieran importantes;
aunque no le gusta mucho darse un bano;
es el quien expectativas sobrepasa.
Nathan, un nino de liberada risa
conquista retos inimaginables por el hombre
aunque pasea en carreola contra la brisa;

In this month we have been all over the place. To start we celebrate Independence day (4th of July) with the traditional fireworks in town. Two weeks later we flew to Dallas, TX for Andrew's wedding. Our flight got delay so we left home the next morning, however we stop in one of the overlooks in our way back home.
Everyone was at the wedding, (David, Eugene, Kimberly, Max, y Keith) it was a great day.
The following week we went to visit the historic Church sites and to see the pageant in the state of New York. It was very spiritual experience that filled my heart with faith and hope.
During the last week of the month we had a tornado and rain in the city.

Strawberry marmalade (taken from Taste of Home canning: and preserving magazine 2012)
This recipe make ordinary orange marmalade into something really special! Sometimes I make it using strawberries that I've frozen. I just thaw them into the refrigerator overnight.
Mrs. Craig Presbey
Pascoag, Rodhe Island
2 medium oranges
2 medium lemons
1/2 cup water
1/8 teaspoon baking soda
1 quart ripe strawberries, crushed
7 cups sugar
1 pouch liquid fruit pectin (half of a 6-ounce package)
Peel outer layer of oranges and lemons; set aside. Remove the white membrane from fruit and discard. Set the fruit aside. Chop peels; place in a large saucepan. Add water and baking soda; cover and bring to a boil. Simmer for 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, section oranges and lemons, reserving juice.Add fruit and juice to saucepan; cover and simmer for 20 minutes. Add strawberries. Measure fruit; return 4 cups to the saucepan . (If you have more than 4 cups, discard any extra; if less, add water to equal 4 cups.) Add sugar and mix well. Boil uncovered, for 5 minutes.
Remove from the heat; stir in pectin. Stir for 5 minutes to cool; skim foam.
Carefully ladle into hot half-pint jars or freezer containers, leaving 1/4-in. headspace. Remove air bubbles; wipe rims and adjust lids. Process for 10 minutes in a boiling-water canneror store in the freezer. Serve with toast or biscuits.
Yield: about 10 half-pints.

For This Year
Before "Max & Liliana" I wrote " for this year" and here are the post for 2010...a wonderful year.
check the 2009-2010 posts on the blog archive!
For this year
I felt inspired by the "Julie&Julia" movie to write a blog, but also to pursuit something this coming year 2010. Life is excitement, learning, adventure. Why not to explore it a little more in detail? Mainly I want this blog to be positive, fun and uplifting.

Our Family Home Evening this week had two purposes. The first was to get supplies for our family first aid kit and secondly our short lesson. I’d like to talk about the lesson. At home we have the Family Home Evening resource manual which has helped us to understand principles to build a strong family. The lesson this time was about reasoning with children, something that generally sounds ridiculous but it is the right way to teach children to obey and judge correctly.
The lesson compares the models of reasoning, and command and demand.Max said something very true at end of the lesson “by doing it this way one is teaching and respecting children’s agency; in the church we are taught to study the scripture, live the counsel of the prophets and to pray for revelation and understanding; not just to obey blindly.”

Deseenme suerte!
Lately I have a great interest in home making and I've decided to do something about it. One thing my mom did and I didn't learn well to do was canning. So, I bought a magazine full of recipes, some jars, pectin, and 2lbs of strawberries and thus I start my summer project #1.
This project is due on Friday. wish me luck!

3 forasteros explorando! /3 outsiders exploring!

En/In PA.
